I hope to learn the “Japan” expressed through masks as widely and deeply as I can.
People say that Noh and Kyogen masks are representation of Japanese masks
but I think that Gigaku and Kagura masks also have “Japan” within them.
Looking only at the world of Noh masks, it is so deep that you will be fully drawn into it
; but I will not look at masks only from this world.
I feel that Noh masks which are sometimes deep and silent, sometimes intense,
can be seen more deeply if you look at the humorous world of Kyogen masks.
Likewise, looking at the world of Gigaku or Kagura masks,
sometimes stepping away from humans or animals and making peanuts or stones
makes me see the world of masks from a different viewpoint.
I want to work in the world of masks deeper and wider
with my mind not being obsessed by one viewpoint.
I will be devoted and make several types of masks in the future.
